Challenge Unlimited Participates in 25th Annual SourceAmerica Grassroots Advocacy Conference

Challenge Unlimited proudly participated in the SourceAmerica 25th annual Grassroots Advocacy Conference, held during the week of June 11, 2018 at the nation’s capital.

Each year, SourceAmerica hosts member nonprofits for training sessions on how to present their case for better employment options for people with disabilities to lawmakers.

Challenge Unlimited attended this year’s Grassroots Advocacy Conference with self-advocate Shane.  Shane is a shining example of how AbilityOne contracts can have a large, positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities. “Each year, he has benefitted so well from this program,” says  Challenge President & CEO, Charlotte Hammond, “This is a huge part of what he needs and looks forward to every day.”

These legislative visits remind the politicians that decisions made in committees in Washington affect the economy and livelihood of their home districts’ constituents.

Challenge Unlimited looks forward to bringing these self-advocates to Capitol Hill so they can tell their personal stories and help shape their legislators’ disability employment decisions.  It’s really powerful for the self-advocates to make those connections, have their voices heard and affect policy at a personal and national level.
